Located just outside of Nanaimo, Cedar is the perfect space for buyers looking to settle in a rural community. Cedar is broken up into several areas, Cedar by the Sea, Cedar, and Yellow Point. Cedar by the Sea offers beautiful vacation homes, family homes, and a few condos, which are often oceanfront or ocean view. The main area, Cedar, is well established, with older homes, acreages, mobile homes, and newer developments. The Yellow Point area is the most south from Nanaimo, and here you will find many farms and acreages. If you are looking to develop in Cedar it should be noted that the area is not connected to the municipal sewer system of Nanaimo and some homes still are still on a well. Peaceful and serene, Cedar has become a desirable spot for homebuyers looking to get away from the city, but still be a part of the Nanaimo community.
Although rural, Cedar offers many local restaurants ranging from fine dining to café style. The Mahle House has attracted gourmets from all over Vancouver Island with it’s fine dining atmosphere and local eats. The Crow and Gate, located near Yellow Point, is British Pub that serves authentic British food and drink. There is also a large complex in Cedar that houses COCO Café and Slice Resto, along with the 49th Parallel Grocery Store, a pharmacy, a dental office, and Island Savings Bank.
